The Physical Darkroom in the Digital Age

"Color is not an algorithmic slider. It is physical chemistry reacting with silver halide under natural sunlight."

The Heritage

Founded in 2021 across Florence, Italy and Kyoto, Japan, JOHNEIKO VISUALS was established as an antidote to disposable digital filters. As commercial sensors reached hyper-saturation and sterile sharpness, the human connection to color was lost in procedural mathematics.

Our team spent three years shooting medium format negative film—primarily Kodak Portra 400, Tri-X 400, Fuji Pro 400H, and cinematic Vision3 500T—on Mamiya RZ67, Pentax 67, and Leica M optics under varied daylight conditions.

Spectral Calibration

Every collection in our archive is not merely an aesthetic preset; it is a mathematical profile built through spectrophotometer density measurements of wet-scanned negatives.

By mapping the gentle toe compression, creamy skin undertones, and natural red halation around high-contrast specular highlights, we deliver profiles that adapt organically to raw camera sensors from Sony, Canon, Fujifilm, Hasselblad, and Leica.

Curator Principles

01. Organic Halation

Highlight roll-off that softens harsh clip edges rather than clipping into harsh digital magenta.

02. Restrained Saturation

Deep earth tones, Florentine travertine ochres, and skin pigments preserved in their true tonality.

03. Cross-Platform Cohesion

Identical spectral response across Adobe Lightroom Classic, Capture One Pro, and DaVinci Resolve 3D LUTs.

04. Lifetime Archival Vault

Acquisitions remain permanently accessible in your collector account with free version updates.
